If I were to sum up my childhood in just three words, I’d probably settle for inglorious, mundane, and plain. Isn’t it strange how of all the things that we choose to recall, it is the moments when we did not do what we wanted that stand out the most?
It might just be me but I often reenact the unspoken conversations. I’m haunted by numerous instances when I shoved away that persistent thought just to keep the peace. I even remember when I did not hold my ground but rather cowered. I replay the instances when I did not summon up all the internal warnings to silence the horrors of my tomorrow.

“Hurry up Jim! Before someone hears us.” Came the honeyed whisper of his partner from above his ear.
Jim acquiesced, stood up and hobbled in.
Inside the cellar, the cognac furrowed Jim’s taste buds, welling up saliva and drumming his heart with a tickle at his nostrils. He tried to settle his mind.
